If you are taking your kids to a temple open house, (or know someone who is!), this book is for you.
Our children's book Welcome to the Temple: A Walk Through the House of the Lord was inspired in part by an experience I had several years ago after taking my kids to their first temple open house.
My boys were 5 and 3 at the time, and after walking through the temple, I asked them what they noticed and liked best. They primarily commented on the temple's aesthetics, and while that was understandable given their ages, I wished I had done more before we walked through the temple to help prepare my kids for what we would see and what happens in each room of the temple after it's dedicated.
A temple open house lasts less than 30 minutes, which is just not enough time for our kids to really understand what happens there. Several families have told me that reading Welcome to the Temple as a family before attending an open house helped their kids recognize and understand what they were seeing as they walked through so that they could focus on the spirit they felt while they were inside.
If you live near one of an ongoing temple open house in the United States, send us a message and let us know! We have a special discount code for Welcome to the Temple that we save for families who live near brand new temples.
